    Marking milestones: Evolving Cifas’ mural

In 2017, we created a bespoke timeline mural for Cifas, the UK’s fraud prevention service, showcasing 30 years of milestones and measurable impact. Now, five years on, we were invited back to extend the story — reflecting a remarkable new chapter in their mission to fight fraud.

    Challenge:

Cifas wanted to mark their 35th anniversary by building on the success of their original Scriberia mural. Their aim was to continue the timeline and reflect key developments from the past five years — including major fraud prevention milestones and the organisation’s evolving identity.

The challenge was to seamlessly integrate new content with the existing artwork, while also introducing a refreshed brand palette and maintaining the powerful visual storytelling that had made the original mural such an asset.

    Solution:

Our team returned to the Cifas HQ to hand-paint a five-year extension to the timeline. We wove in key events including the impact of the pandemic, growth in membership, and the £1.3 billion saved through Cifas's preventative work.

To reflect the organisation's evolution, we incorporated Cifas’ new branding and colour palette — ensuring a smooth transition from past to present. The extended mural not only preserves continuity but also acts as a powerful reminder of Cifas’s ongoing purpose.

It was a no-brainer for us to reach back out to Scriberia to help us with this project – we trusted them to bring our journey to life in the same innovative and artistic manner as before.

    Results:

The updated mural continues to be a focal point of the Cifas reception area — a vibrant storytelling tool used to engage visitors, onboard new staff, and showcase the organisation’s achievements and direction of travel.

The mural has become a focal point of our offices, a way for us to explain our histories and the direction of travel and we are so proud to show it to external visitors as well as customers and employees.

Sophie adds, “We’ve had a lot of new starters to the business this year and the mural has allowed them to understand our history in a way that would be difficult to portray in any other way.”

“We are so happy with the end result and look forward to re-engaging for the next part of our story.”
